Caring for Your Piece

A Plastique Beauty piece is an investment and it deserves to be treated as one. Every unit is crafted from 100% human hair, hand-tied onto a lace cap with precision and care. The right routine at home means your piece stays as exceptional as the day it arrived.

What products should I use?

Always use sulfate-free, alcohol-free, and fragrance-free products. Harsh ingredients strip moisture from the hair over time, leading to dryness and breakage. Look for formulas designed for color-treated or chemically processed hair.

How often should I wash it?

Less than you think. Once a month for regular wearers, once every two months if you alternate between pieces. For vivid or fashion colors, wash as infrequently as possible and always use a color-protecting shampoo. Water and heat are the fastest ways to diminish a vivid shade.

How do I wash it?

Detangle gently before getting the hair wet. Use lukewarm water, never hot. Apply shampoo to the mid-lengths and ends only, working downward without scrubbing at the roots. Condition, leave for a few minutes, rinse thoroughly, then air dry on a wig stand. Never wring, twist, or blow dry on high heat.

Combing and brushing

A wide-tooth comb is essential, especially on wet hair. Always start from the ends and work upward. For dry hair, a cushioned wig brush is ideal. Avoid fine-tooth combs and stiff bristle brushes entirely.

Sleeping in your wig

We recommend removing your piece before bed. If you need to sleep in it, a satin or silk bonnet and silk pillowcase will protect the integrity of the hair overnight.

Adhesive and lace removal

Use lukewarm water to loosen the bond gradually. Never force the lace away from the skin. The lace is the most refined part of your unit and deserves to be treated accordingly.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For longer periods, return your unit to its original bag and box. That is precisely what they were designed for.

A note on heat

Hot tools are welcome on heat-safe units. Always apply a protectant first and keep temperatures measured. Excessive heat is the most common way to compromise the longevity of your piece.
